DT Swiss RR415 on Miche hubs 1570g

I like this wheelset I use it my self. I have done another for some one else. The riders of these wheels need to be light 80 kg or less. There is a weight limit on the rim and I repsect the tension limit of the rim.

The RR415 is a rim that weight 415-425g. I keep them in 28H drilling. This wheelset uses the relaible Miche Primato hub and is laced 2x front and rear with Sapim Laser spokes and alloy nipples. The wheels are actually stiff which many would not expect for a light rim and thing spokes. Dt swiss no what they are doing with rims.

The rim is out of production which is a shame. I use mine soley in winter and rim wear is not a problem. I ride them only in the wet. In the dry I have other bike/wheels.

So if you are light and want a light relaible wheelset then consider this.

Open Pro rimis on dura hubs for Tour of Flanders.

This wheelset is for a customer who is doing tour of flander cyclo. He want something special for this special event.

So Open Pro rim on Dura Ace 9000 hubs and Sapim race spokes. Weight 1715g. He'll have hubs that will last many rims. The wheels are 32H and laced 3x of course.

I really like these hubs my other favouite is the Campagnolo Record. Perfection in black.

H Plus Son Archetype Grey on Novatec hubs

The Grey Archetype rim is very dark but it lush never the less. This wheelset has been built with Sapim Laser spokes all round. The front is a 24 spoke radial wheel and the rear is a 28 spoke 2x wheel. The hubs are novatec A171/F172. The Novatec hubs give excellent bracing angles and the rims are stiff so Laser spokes on this build work well. Also some weight is saved.

The front wheel is 735g and the rear is 922g so they are light, stiff and look fantastic. 

H plus Son Archetype road disc brake wheelset Tune hubs

The first road disc wheelset of the year. The H plus Son archtype rim in black makes a good disc brake rim as it has a black brake track. The hubs are blue Tune Kong which are 116g for the front and 214g for the rear - so very light. The wheels are 28 spoke 3x front and rear laced with black Sapim Race spokes.

Total weight is 1700g.

Throughout 2014 I expect to be building more disc brake wheelset for road and Ryde have a new disc specific rim. I got my first two today.

DT Swiss RR415 rims on Dura Ace 9000 hubs 28F/32R 1537g

Another wheel set built and this one is using up stock of the out of production RR415 rim. DT Swiss have replaced it with the heavier than stiffer RR440.

The RR415 is a 415g that has a hard tension limit of 1100N, this is O.K as I have a spoke tension gauge. The hub are the rather perfect Dura Ace 9000. If there anything better? The rims and hubs are laced with Sapim Laser spokes and black alloy nipples. Given the front is 28 spoke and the rear is 32 spoke  the weight of this wheelset is only 1537g (690g front and 847g rear).

The wheels are stiff too. It is a shame this rim is no longer in production at least it's replacement comes in 24H drilling though.
